📅 Issue date:2022 🔄 Effective date:2022 🌍 Type:国际标准

📑 Table of Contents

01 Scope

IEC 62660-3 specifies safety requirements for EV Li-ion traction battery packs/systems, focusing on electrical safety, thermal-runaway triggering & propagation, immersion and fire exposure.

02 Normative references

  1. IEC 62660-1 Performance
  2. IEC 62660-2 Abuse
  3. UN R100 (ref.)

03 Terms and definitions

Thermal propagation protection
After a cell thermal runaway, the system shall not spread to all cells within a set time and shall warn occupants.
Insulation resistance
Resistance between HV circuit and vehicle chassis shall exceed a threshold.

04 Technical requirements

Electrical safety
In normal & single-fault conditions, insulation, equipotential bonding, overcurrent/overvoltage protection meet requirements.
Thermal runaway & propagation
Pass thermal propagation test: no fire/explosion (or confined) within set time and alarm issued.
Environmental safety
Control hazards under immersion, external fire, mechanical crush.

05 Test methods

Thermal propagation
Trigger a cell by heating/nail; monitor spread & alarm.
Insulation resistance
Measure HV-to-chassis insulation resistance against limit.
