03 Terms and definitions

Abuse test
Simulation of extreme conditions to assess safety margin.
Thermal propagation
Spread of thermal runaway from cell to cell (assessed in IEC 62660-3).

04 Technical requirements

Abuse
Vibration, shock, drop, thermal shock/cycling, external short, overcharge, forced discharge, low pressure, fire — no hazard (fire/explosion).

05 Test methods

External short
Low-resistance short at RT; no fire/explosion.
Overcharge
Sustained overcharge at specified rate/voltage; no fire/explosion.
Thermal shock
High/low temp. cycling; assess sealing & electrical safety.
