IEC 62133-2:2017
Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes - Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells and batteries - Part 2: Lithium systems
📅 Issue date:2017
🔄 Effective date:2017
🌍 Type:国际标准
01 Scope
IEC 62133-2 specifies safety requirements and tests for portable sealed Li-ion/Li-polymer cells and batteries; it is the foundational international safety standard for portable lithium batteries.
02 Normative references
- IEC 60050
- IEC 61960 Li-ion cells
- IEC 62281 Transport safety (ref.)
03 Terms and definitions
Lithium-ion cellSecondary cell with lithium-intercalation electrodes.
Li-polymer cellLi-ion cell using solid/gel polymer electrolyte.
04 Technical requirements
Protection (overcharge/overdischarge/overcurrent/short) and mechanical/thermal safety design.
- Continuous low-rate charge; moulded case stress; temp. cycling;
- Vibration; mechanical shock; external short; free fall;
- Thermal abuse; overcharge; forced discharge;
- Battery pack: protection circuit effectiveness, functional verification.
05 Test methods
Low-resistance short at 55°C; no fire/explosion.
Heat 5°C/min to 130°C, hold; no fire/explosion.
Cell overcharged at 2.0 ItA or 10 V; no fire/explosion.
