Safety of machinery - General principles for design - Risk assessment and risk reduction
📅 Issue date:2010
🔄 Effective date:2012
🌍 Type:国际标准 / 国家标准 等同采用
01 Scope
ISO 12100 specifies the general principles for machinery safety design, including risk assessment (analysis and evaluation) and a three-step hierarchy to reduce risk by inherent design, safeguarding and information for use. It is the basis for most machinery safety product standards.
02 Normative references
- ISO 12100:2010
- ISO 13849 Safety-related parts of control systems
- GB/T 15706-2012 Identical adoption
03 Terms and definitions
RiskCombination of the probability of occurrence of harm and the severity of that harm.
Inherently safe designEliminating or reducing risk by design; the first-priority risk-reduction measure.
SafeguardingGuards and protective devices that physically separate the hazard zone.
Information for useWarnings and instructions conveying residual risk and correct operation.
04 Technical requirements
- Step 1: inherently safe design;
- Step 2: safeguarding and complementary protective measures (e-stop, two-hand control, etc.);
- Step 3: information for use.
- Residual risk shall be reduced to ALARA.
Stability, strength, guarding, electrical & thermal safety, ergonomics, SRECS per applicable standards.
05 Test methods
Verify design and documentation clause-by-clause; confirm by test/analysis that risk is reduced to acceptable level.
